Creative Writing

About

My writing often engages with themes related to Chinese-Canadian identity, queerness, mental health, racism, and climate change. These themes have lived in my art, whether in stories, poetry, plays, screenplays, digital media, comics, creative responses to other pieces, or lyrics, and I’ve enjoyed incorporating dreamy realism or speculative elements to develop these juxtapositions. I also love testing the boundaries and creating and working on non-linear and non-Eurocentric plotlines and evolutions of text. Within the pain and trauma of my stories, I also intertwine moments of reprieve—in musical language, nature images, and a desire to connect spiritually to the world around us.
